Ideal for beginners who want a deep dive into barbering. This course covers everything from foundational skills to advanced techniques.

A class night

What a class night looks like

  1. 6pm. Arrive at the Cork City shop. Andy demonstrates the technique for the evening.
  2. Then it's your turn. You practise it yourself, with Andy beside you correcting as you go.
  3. 8pm. Finish. Between sessions you have theory and learning material to go through at home.

Up to 4 people per evening, so every question gets answered.

Everything you need, from day one

Your full professional barber kit, worth over €600, is included with the 16-week course and it's yours to keep: clippers, trimmer, scissors, combs, capes and gowns, guards, brushes and a hair dryer. Build on it as you grow.

Learn from a working barber

Andrew O'Sullivan runs AndySullsHair, with shops in Cork City and Glanmire, and teaches every academy session himself. You learn the way he works every day: on a busy shop floor, with real clients coming through the door. More than 50 students have trained with the academy so far.

Do I need any experience?

No. The beginner course starts from the very first step.

How old do I need to be?

16 or over.

When does it start?

New groups start on a rolling basis as places open. Message Andy and he'll tell you when the next spot is.

Do I need to buy tools?

No. Your full professional kit is included and it's yours to keep.

What happens when I finish?

You get an AndySullsHair certificate of completion, and we help with job placement: we hire the best barbers from the academy and reach out to our network of barbershops.
